Privacy Policy

The Companion is a focus timer that runs entirely on your device. This policy explains, plainly, what that means for your data — which is short, because we don't collect any of it.

Summary

• The Companion does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data.
• Everything you enter — tasks, focus sessions, streaks — stays on your device.
• There is no account, no login, and no server. The app does not make network requests.
• There is no analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking of any kind.

What data the app creates

When you use The Companion, the app stores the following directly on your device, using Apple's on-device SwiftData framework:

• Task names you type in
• Focus session history (start time, duration, and whether a session was completed or abandoned), used to show your streaks and stats
• Your selected theme and timer preferences

None of this ever leaves your device. It is not synced to a server, not backed up to any service we operate (we don't operate one), and not visible to us in any form.

How data is shared between the app and its widgets

The Companion includes a home screen widget and a Live Activity (the Dynamic Island / lock screen timer). For these to show your current session, the app and the widget extension share a small amount of session state — the current task name and the timer's end time — using Apple's App Group storage (UserDefaults, scoped to an App Group shared only between The Companion and its own widget extension). This is standard local, on-device communication between parts of the same app; nothing is sent off your device.

Notifications

The Companion schedules local notifications (for example, to let you know when a focus session has ended) using Apple's on-device notification framework. These are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device — no push notification service or external server is involved.

No tracking, no third-party services

The Companion does not use any third-party SDKs, analytics tools, advertising networks, or tracking technologies. The app does not link your activity to your identity, does not track you across other apps or websites, and has no ad identifiers or tracking pixels of any kind.

Children's privacy

The Companion does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, regardless of age, for the reasons above — the app simply doesn't collect data in the first place.

Deleting your data

Since all data lives only on your device, deleting the app deletes everything The Companion has stored, immediately and completely.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes — for example, if a future version of the app adds a feature that does involve a network request — this page will be updated and the "last updated" date above will reflect that.
